Don’t Let Their Heartbeats Stop
The Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran (CFPPI) launched a campaign titled “Don’t Let Their Heartbeats Stop!” in 2013. The primary aim of this campaign has been to support political prisoners in Iran who are being denied access to medical care. It commenced with a two-month action starting on October 10, 2013, the World Day Against the Death Penalty, and concluding on December 10, 2013, Human Rights Day. As the deprivation of medical care has been systematically and intentionally used as a form of torture against political prisoners in Iran, this campaign has persisted.
The deliberate withholding of medication and medical attention has become a widespread practice by the authorities of the Islamic regime, and the international community has largely overlooked this issue.
The objectives of this campaign include:
- Exposing the widespread practice of the Iranian regime authorities sentencing prisoners to a “Silent Death” by deliberately denying them medical attention, effectively allowing them to perish without execution.
- Exerting pressure on the Islamic regime in Iran to immediately and unconditionally provide these prisoners with the much-needed medical attention they require.
