CFPPI encouraged human rights organizations, trade unions, and concerned individuals and groups to partake in or organize events on June 20th in solidarity with these prisoners. This specific date was chosen to shed light on the decades-long issues of incarceration, torture, and execution faced by numerous political prisoners in Iran. The initial global events occurred in 2011, featuring demonstrations held in 50 cities worldwide on June 20th. Since then, this date has been annually observed to highlight the challenges faced by political prisoners in Iran.
