The regime in Iran has been systematically depriving political prisoners of medical care and essential treatment. This deliberate tactic is used to further torture detainees and serves as a silent method of execution, keeping such atrocities away from the scrutiny of human rights organizations. Whenever the Islamic regime of Iran has officially announced executions of political prisoners, it has faced strong international condemnation. To avoid this, the regime now employs “silent executions”, a term coined by CFPPI, where prisoners are denied necessary medication, surgery, or even basic medical care.
Currently, hundreds of political prisoners are suffering and dying due to this cruel practice. Dozens have already lost their lives in agony, while many others are deteriorating as their desperate families plead for help, only to be ignored.
The Global Network to Free Political Prisoners in Iran (GNFPPI) invites you to an online panel discussion on the World Health Day, to address this critical issue. We have gathered experts to discuss the various aspects of medical deprivation as a form of torture, its impact on prisoners, their families, and broader society.
