Press Release
The boycott of the Foreign Affairs Committee meeting of the Dutch Parliament by its representatives is another victory in the path for the “Woman, Life, Freedom” revolution!
The website of the Dutch Parliament announced the Foreign Affairs Committee meeting on October 23, covering topics of “The Situation in Iran” and “Iran, a Regional and International player.”
It seemed that this meeting was supposed to address the situation in Iran and human rights violations there. However, the presence of names like Ali Vaez and other academic figures who are friends of Ali Vaez indicated that the Islamic Republic and its lobbyists, at a time when the regime is completely isolated and discredited both domestically and internationally, are once again trying to regain their lost credibility.
Yesterday, the holding of this meeting with its organizers and only two representatives from parliamentary parties in the first part was a humiliating defeat for the child-killing regime and its lobbyists.
After hearing the news of above-mentioned meeting in Dutch Parliament, The Campaign to free Political Prisoners (CFPPI) in Iran, immediately put actions on its agenda in protest against such a meeting with the presence of lobbyists of Islamic Republic of Iran. In this regard, a documented open letter was sent by Parisa Pouyandeh, the Secretary of the CFPPI to the Foreign Affairs Committee and more than eight parliamentary parties, requesting the cancellation of this meeting.
Alongside sending this letter, public outreach and protests on social media and on the X network, and the support of the fighting people and well-known activists for this online protest, were an effective help in exposing the policies of the regime and its lobbyists.
The boycott of this meeting by parliamentary parties is a victory achieved only thanks to the power of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” revolution in 2022 and the continued struggles of brave people from prison to the street today, as well as the protests carried out by us and other opposition activists in the Netherlands.
The efforts and protests that took place were able to once again draw the attention of Dutch politicians to the political situation, human rights violations, and the struggles of the people in Iran, effectively neutralizing the efforts of the Islamic Republic and its lobbyists.
The Campaign to free Political Prisoners in Iran congratulates this victory to the brave and fighting political prisoners, the families of political prisoners and those seeking justice, and the fighting people of Iran, and considers it a positive step towards the global and international isolation of the Islamic Republic.
