Unconditional Release of All Political Prisoners! Join the Campaign to Say No to Bail!

-

The fight against the Islamic Republic for the unconditional release of political prisoners is becoming more widespread and intense every day. This is a struggle against the inhumane structure of the Islamic Republic, against the brutal crackdown of protesters by security forces and judicial system.

By imposing hefty bails on the release of political prisoners, the Islamic Republic is practically blackmailing political prisoners and their worried families.

Despite their disastrous economic situation, families of political prisoners, are forced to accept several hundred million heavy bonds and become heavily indebted to banks and other financial institutions in order to temporarily release their loved ones.

This evident extortion by the Islamic Republic’s judicial system, especially in the recent arrests on the occasion of the International Labor Day, became more intense. But against this shameless blackmail, political prisoners have begun to stand up and refuse to be released on bail.

Nahid Khodajoo, a member of the board of directors of the Free Union of Iranian Workers, protested against the imposition of a 500-million-toman bail on her release and declared she was not willing to pay the bail. By doing so, she stood in the front line of the protest against imposition of bail as a condition to release political prisoners.

Also, Akram Nasirian, a prominent activist in the defense of women’s rights, an activist helping housewives to be educated, and a person actively helping flood victims, has bravely stood up against her conditional release on bail.

Earlier, Raheleh Rahemipour, a family member of an executed political prisoner in the 80s, had refused to accept any bail as a condition for her release.

The campaign to put an end to any kind and any amount of bail as a condition for the release of political prisoners has now started.

This is one of the most important campaigns to push back the Islamic Republic from blackmailing political prisoners and their families. A campaign to release political prisoners without bail is a practical step in realizing the unconditional release of all political prisoners.

This is an important campaign that needs to be actively supported.

The Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran calls on all families of political prisoners, all organizations and activists concerned about human dignity and freedom, to join us and support the Campaign to release political prisoners unconditionally.
