All arrested workers and teachers must be released immediately and unconditionally!

-

Protesting against injustice is our absolute right!

The protest of workers, teachers, students and people against repression and arrests, against inflation, high unemployment, and endless government corruption will not stop.

The Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) is extremely worried and frightened by the continuous rise of protests. IRI wants to put an end to the protests by using security forces, by brutal attacks against protesters and threatening the society.

IRI is clearly horrified. Protesters in each protest rally have said loudly that these threats do not and won’t work! Workers, teachers, students and women are more united in their demands, including the unanimous call for the release of all political prisoners.

Before the May 1st of this year, a number of labor activists were arrested on charges of gathering in Jahanameh Park in Karaj. Parvin Mohammadi, vice chairman of the Free Union of Iranian Workers, Haleh Safarzadeh and Alireza Saghafi, members of the Center for the Defense of Children’s Rights, are still in detention. The Islamic Republic’s security forces also kidnapped Akram Nasirian, one of the popular activists of women’s right and active in helping victims of recent flood in Iran. On the International Labor Day, Islamic State security forces raided the protest ranks of workers in front of the Islamic General Assembly and arrested many protesters. They also arrested protesters including Marzieh Amiri who had gathered in front of the notorious Evin Prison to demand the release of arrested workers. (Marzieh Amiri was active in reporting on May Day rally). The names of the detainees in front of Islamic General Assembly are: Reza Shahabi, Nahid Khodajoo, Dawood Rafiei, Hassan Saeedi, Farhad Sheikhi, Asadollah Soleimani, Vahid Fereydouni, Nasrin Javadi, Naser Moharamzadeh, Rasoul Taleb moghaddam, Mohammad Ali Aslani, Mardas Taheri , Mohsen Soleimani Nejad, Hadi Soleimani, Mehdi Azimi, Ghasem Khaloui, Mohammad Aslaghi, Farahnaz Shiri, Elham Salehi, Anisha Asadollahi, Amir Mohammad Taheri, Keyvan Samimi, Hadi Soleimani, Mehdi Fakhri, Samira Amiri, Khorsandi, Hossein Moradi, Ali Merikhi, Mohsen Hades , Hades, Saeed Rezaei, Akbar Jamshidi, Hamid Salimi, Nima Vizhe, Hassan Vizhe and Marzieh Amiri. On the 12th of May, International Teachers Day, a gathering of retired and other teachers in Tehran was invaded by security forces and three of the well-known activists of the Teachers’ Association, Muhammad Taqi Fallahi, Rasoul Bodaghi and Mojtaba Qoreishian were arrested and transferred to an unknown location. The Islamic Republic has readily understood that people will not allow the Islamic state to suppress the protests of workers for basic rights under the pretext of national security. The Committees to Free Political Prisoners in Iran strongly condemns these brutal raids to the gathering of workers and teachers, and calls on all organizations working to free political prisoners throughout the world to condemn recent arrests and demand the release of all detainees. In these sensitive situations, we must be more active in supporting the family of political prisoners and stand against the repression by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
