Release the arrested labor activists immediately!
The arrest of labor activists on the eve of May Day marks the horror of the Islamic Republic of Iran!
A number of labor activists were arrested by security forces this morning at the Jahannama Park on the Tehran-Karaj highway. Twelve people have been arrested, according to news reports. The names of three detainees are still unknown. The names of the detainees announced include: Alireza Saghafi, Haleh Safarzadeh, Parvin Mohammadi, Valeh Zamani, Saeed Torabian, Fouad Fathi, Mostafa Showkat, Amir Abbasi, Safiar Ghorbani
Along with these arrests, a number of other labor activists have been summoned in recent days for unknown reasons. This savage aggression of the regime is a sign of its horror of the powerful presence of labor protests. It is also a sign of the regime’s horror because of the calls made by labor leaders and community activists for the gathering on the occasion of May 1st.
It is the workers’ right to celebrate May Day! This aggression by the Islamic state and its security forcesmust be challenged seriously. The Islamic Regime has no right to create an atmosphere of fear on the International Day of Workers.
The Campaign to Free political prisoners in Iran strongly condemns the arrest and summoning of labor activists on the eve of May 1st and calls on all international organizations and the public to actively react to this insolence of the Islamic Regime with vigorous protest.
We should join the family of the arrester labor activists,at the door of their place of detention and call for their immediate release.
