Join us to stop execution in Iran
The Campaign to Free Political Prisoners in Iran (CFPPI) has been informed that the Islamic regime executed more than 21 political prisoners on Tuesday 2nd of August 2016 in Gohardasht prison. The prison guards, under a heavy and tight security control, have initially separated these prisoners from others by taking them to solitary confinement and then to the execution chamber. The families of these prisoners have been asked, by the prison official, to come for a visit but instead were told that their loved ones have been executed but they were not even allowed to visit their graves.
These prisoners were tried in a five minutes kangaroo style court without an access to a lawyer or other representatives. They were also tortured while in prison. These prisoners were convicted of ‘acting against national security’. This, in reality, means they have exercised their rights to freedom of speech and expressed their opposition to the Islamic regime. Exercising any form of freedoms of expression is banned under the Islamic regime and is punishable by execution in Iran.
CFPPI has also received information that many more political prisoners, some of whom are well-known such as Saleh Kohandel, Pirouz Mansouri and Afshin Bayemani, are in danger of being executed by the Islamic regime and under the presidency of Rouhani. These three prisoners have been transferred to a solitary confinement which means their life is in danger as well.
CFPPI demands that the execution of prisoners must be stopped immediately and unconditionally. We ask the international community, in a show of solidarity with the families of these prisoners, to strongly condemn the savagery displayed by Rouhani’s Islamic regime in Iran. The international community must demand a halt to all executions in Iran.
