IRAN: An open letter to the governments around the world

Re:  Recent demonstrations in Iran!

Protesters have been arrested, injured, killed and their families have been assaulted by police!

Following the murder of Mahsa Amini by the Morality police on 16th September 2022 in Iran, thousands of protests have erupted across the country. Hundreds of demonstrators have been arrested and their families have been assaulted in front of the prison by the Islamic regime’s police. We urge you to force the Islamic regime to free the detainees and to stop the violent crackdown on demonstrators, before the Islamic regime massacres more of them on the streets of Iran.

The recent protests in Iran started on 16th September 2022, following the death of 22 years old woman Mahsa Amini. Since then, these protests have spread to more than 100 cities across Iran. The regime’s security forces have been attacking the protester using firing live ammunition straight at the protestors and using birdshot to kill hundreds and injure thousands. The security forces have increased their pressure by raiding houses and arresting rights activists, university students, and other people to spread fear amongst the public.

As you are aware, the recent protests across Iran have started following the death of Mahsa Amini who died as a result of torture in the detention centre in Tehran. Mahsa Amini, a 22-years-old woman, travelled with her family from the province of Kurdistan to visit their relatives in Tehran. While in Tehran, she was walking on the street with her brother when she was stopped by the regime’s Morality Police. Her brother was attacked and Mahsa was taken away by violent force to the detention centre. It was there that she was beaten up which caused severe head injuries to her head and body. She went into a coma and died as a result of her injuries in the hospital on 16 September 2022.

People in Iran have been going through 43 years of severe oppression, widespread poverty, and violent suppression. Women have been subjected to the utmost misogynistic laws and crimes against women. These crimes have been carried out directly by the order of the authorities of the Islamic regime, Khamenei, and the notorious IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps). Mahsa Amini is one of the millions of women who have been tortured and hundreds have been killed by the Islamic regime. People in Iran never accepted the Islamic regime and continually defied its rules. But now, brave women have been burning their hijabs on the streets right in front of the armed guards. They continue protesting on the streets despite facing severe violent attacks by the regime’s security forces.

People in Iran need your urgent support!

I am writing to urge you to support the protesters, support Iranian women and pressure the Islamic regime in Iran to stop the violence against the protesters. You could help by summoning the regime’s ambassador in your country and compel them to immediately and unconditionally release all the detainees in Iran.

The number of detainees is increasing every minute, and their families have been violently attacked in front of the prisons in Iran. The Islamic regime has cut the internet across the country to stop the news of their murderous violence from reaching the outside world. Men and women in Iran need international support now, and before more of them have been murdered by the regime’s guards.

Your government can play a vital role in lobbying the international community to take effective and immediate steps to force the Islamic regime to release all detainees, stop assaulting their families, and restore the internet across the country.

Mahsa Amini is one of the thousands of women who were tortured and murdered by the Islamic regime. Mahsa Amini will not be the last one either. The regime has already

intentionally murdered many other women and men like Hadis Najafi, by aiming and shooting six bullets straight at her, while she was in a demonstration. People in Iran need your support before more of them are being slaughtered in Iran by the Islamic regime in Iran.
