Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on the disgraceful decision to send an envoy to the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s murderous president Ebrahim Raisi
I am writing to express my revulsion and protest at Enrique Mora’s plan to travel to Iran to attend the inauguration of Ebrahim Raisi.
You cannot be unaware that Ebrahim Raisi is a mass murderer, responsible for the killing of thousands of people, whether as a member of Tehran’s ‘death commission’, which carried out the massacre of thousands of political prisoners in the summer of 1988, or in his various roles as prosecutor and head of the judiciary, ordering the imprisonment, torture and execution of hundreds.
You cannot be unaware either that Ebrahim Raisi was appointed as president not by the vote of the people in a fair and free election but in effect by the leader of the Islamic Republic Khamenei even prior to the holding of this elections circus, which was in any case widely boycotted by the overwhelming majority of the people in Iran.
Instead of attending the inauguration of Ebrahim Raisi and granting him and his regime diplomatic recognition and political legitimacy, Ebrahim Raisi and the rest of the leaders of the Islamic Republic should be indicted and prosecuted in fair and open trials – something alien to him and his criminal regime – for their crimes against humanity. Instead of opening up political relations with this regime, this regime should be politically isolated and boycotted internationally and thrown out of all world bodies.
This disgraceful action of the EU is a slap in the face of the people of Iran and all those human rights defenders and activists who are standing up to this brutal regime and its crimes on a daily basis.
Your participation in the inauguration ceremony of Ebrahim Raisi is shameful and unconscionable behaviour. I strongly demand that you cancel this trip.

به: اورسولا فوندرلاین، رئیس کمیسیون اتحاديه اروپا، درباره تصمیم شرم آور اعزام نماينده ای به مراسم تحلیف ابراهیم رئیسی، رئیس جمهور قاتل ایران!
بدينوسيله اعتراض و انزجار خود، نسبت به سفر ‘انریکه مورا’ برای شرکت در مراسم تحلیف ابراهیم رئیسی به ايران را اعلام ميدارم.
آقاى رئيس،
شما نمی توانید بيخبر از این باشید که ابراهیم رئیسی در اعدامهاى دسته جمعی دست داشته است. وى مسئول کشتار هزاران نفر، چه به عنوان عضو “کمیسیون مرگ” در تهران كه دستور اعدام هزاران زندانی سیاسی در تابستان ١٣٦٧ را داده، یا در سمتهاى دادستان وهمچنين رئیس قوه قضائیه، كه دستور حبس ، شکنجه و اعدام صدها نفر را صادر کرده است، ميباشد.
همچنین نمی توانید به اين مهم اهميت ندهيد که ابراهیم رئیسی نه با رأی مردم در یک انتخابات عادلانه و آزاد، بلکه در واقع توسط رهبر جمهوری اسلامی خامنه ای، حتی قبل از برگزاری این سیرک انتخاباتی، که توسط اکثریت قریب به اتفاق مردم ایران تحریم شده بود، به اين سمت انتصاب شد.
به جای شرکت در مراسم تحلیف ابراهیم رئیسی و اعطای اعتبار و مشروعیت سیاسی به وی و به رژيم ايران، ابراهیم رئیسی و بقیه سران جمهوری اسلامی به دليل جناياتشان عليه بشريت، ميبايستى مشخصا تحت محاکمه عادلانه و علنی قرار گیرند – چیزی غير قابل باور و درك برای او و رژيم جنایتکارش! به جای گشودن روابط سیاسی با این رژیم ، این رژیم باید از نظر سیاسی منزوی شده و در سطح بین المللی بایکوت شود و از همه نهادهای جهانی بیرون رانده شود.
این اقدام ننگین اتحادیه اروپا سیلی بر صورت مردم ایران و همه مدافعان حقوق بشر و فعالانی است که همواره در برابر این رژیم وحشیانه و جنایات آن ایستادگی می کنند.
شرکت نماينده شما در مراسم تحلیف ابراهیم رئیسی رفتاری شرم آور و از روى بي وجداني است. بدينوسيله، اينجانب قويا از شما می خواهم که اين سفر را لغو کنید.
