Announcing a decree to a former member of the Board of Directors of the Iranian Writers’ Association
The decree was issued by Bektash Abtin, a poet, filmmaker and former member of the board of directors of the Iranian Writers’ Association.
According to the news, fifty million rials of cash and three months of compulsory labor in the welfare organization (after a one-year imprisonment) is a verdict, which Branch 2 of the Revolutionary Court of Karaj issued to Baktash Abtin, poet, filmmaker and former member of the board of directors on June 11. The charge against Bektash Abtinin in this case is “propaganda against the system” and its documentation is the publication of the photo on the Instagram page.
In the fall of 1395, security and law enforcement officers prevented the ceremony of the Iranian Writers’ Association on the occasion of the anniversary of the murder of Ali Mohammad Mokhtari and Mohammad Jafar Puayedeh at the Imamzadeh Tahir Cemetery in Karaj. One of the agents’ raids was beaten up by the population of Baktash Abtin and Mazdak Zarafshan (son of Nasser Zarafshan, a member of the Counsel and one of the lawyers of the political killings of the fall of 1998). In the attack, Mazdak’s face was severely damaged. They were then arrested and released on bail on the third day. Bektash Abtin’s shot of a damaged Mazdak Zarafshan photographed his Instagram page. The Karaj prosecutor’s office set up a case for the publication of this photo, summoning and interrogating Abtin on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and eventually summoning him to court on June 11.
“On the occasion of the anniversary of the assassination of Mokhayandeh and Mokhtari, several security guards attacked me and beat me,” Abtin said in a lawsuit related to the assault on security officers. Around this case, Karaj prosecutor’s office has filed a case. Now I am the defendant of the case, which has been carried out by the agents. I was summoned to Karaj for interrogation many times and I was released at the time of my trial by transferring my bail. The ruling will also be addressed to me in a few days. ”
In addition, the Ministry of Intelligence in Tehran earlier this May opened another case for “propaganda against the regime” and the “publication of an illegal publication” for Bektash Abtin, which is still open. In the same case, the officers went to the Abtin house and after the search of the house they seized more than a thousand items of personal belongings and personal belongings. In this case, Abtin has repeatedly interrogated.
Bektash Abtin is one of the active members of the Iranian Writers’ Association. He was a secretary in two periods and was a member of the Board of Directors. In the February 2011 elections, he was also elected as a financial inspector. Apart from the three cases he has made, he has been subjected to other pressures and abuses. “I do not accept this sentence,” he says about the sentence he was notified. Basically, I do not accept anyone’s trial for expressing my opinion. So I’m a member of the Writers’ Association. The defender of freedom of expression is no secret or exception, and these pressures do not impinge on my resolve to fight censorship. I protest against the verdict. ”
