While the news of nuclear agreement between the regime in Iran and the “world’s power” has been all over the media, no news has being published about the human rights’ violation in Iran.
Do you know in Iran:
- Teachers are continuously harassed by the Islamic regime.
- They are arrested, tortured and deprived of medical attention in prison.
- On 27 June 2015, regime arrested Esmail Abdi, the head of the Iranian Teachers’ Trade Association and they threatened the teacher not to organise rallies. Several teachers were arrested in the rally in Tehran on 22 July 2015.
- Many of these teachers including Esmail Abdi, Mahmoud Bagheri, alireza Hashemi, Rasoul Bodaghi, Abdolreza Ghanbari, Aliakbar Bagani, Mehdi Farahi Shandiz, Hashem Shabaninejad, Hadi Rashedi are still in prison.
- Their “crimes” range from gathering to demand their rights and protest against the unfair treatment of teachers, demanding to be respected and not to be harassed, demanding their right to strike and assemble.
- Presently thousands of political prisoners are held in Iran, without charge or trial. These prisoners range in age from 13-75 years old. Among these political prisoners are lawyers who have tried in vain to defend prisoners, labour activists, teachers, human rights activists, women’s rights advocates, and members of banned opposition groups.
Since March 2015 several rallies were organised and participated by the teachers in Different cities in Iran. BUT sadly you do not hear the news about these protests on mainstream media. Jailed teachers in Iran and their families need your support; their voice needs to be echoed all around the world. Join us and lend your voice to call for the immediate release of all jailed teachers in Iran and other prisoners of conscience.
- Ask your union/organization to pass a resolution in support of teachers in Iran & to send a letter to regime and demand the release of jailed teachers immediately and unconditionally.
